Good reference learned a lot

Book is good but the title is a little deceiving. Quite often it states, Paraphrasing, "buy our other book if you really want more specifics on field design". However I did learn alot and it is a good reference.

The Best Technical Reference on Baseball Fields I could find
By The Ideator
I used this technical reference book for a course in Contracts and Procurement, in which I had to write detailed specifications for a baseball park. These specifications were part of a Request for Proposal to a fictitious group of general contractors.

This book left no stone unturned, educating me on all aspects of building and maintaining a ball diamond. My professor, who had seen many similar papers before, was impressed and I received a perfect mark.

I also interviewed a general contractor who was building 8 baseball fields, and found I was able to talk intelligently with him, and knew all the various terms and types of materials used in a baseball field, as a direct result of reading this book.

I was impressed with the overall knowledge of the authors, starting with how to grade the park for maximum drainage and playability, fencing, types of turf required for various weather zones in North America, pest and weed prevention, layout, dimensions, equipment used for maintaining and marking the field -- there wasn't one thing I wanted to know that I couldn't find in this book.

I recommend it very highly.

This text is a primer for the economic analysis of medical markets and the production of health. It traces the economic rationale and development of the medical care organization. The first thirteen chapters use a "flow of funds" approach to describe the incentives and organizational structure of the health care system. I wrote a paper on managed care competition for an economics course. This book proved invaluable. Without any previous knowledge of health economics, I was able to read, learn, and understand a fairly complex subject in a short amount of time using this book. The text covers everything but remains at an undergrad level. The arguments and examples are simple, clear, interesting, and easy to remember. I definitely found this to be the best introduction and overview to health economics, after having read six or seven books on the subject.

Solid, even-handed treatment of a touchy subject

I am currently reading this book for an online course I am taking, and I am very impressed. It is well-reasoned, seeks to look at all perspectives objectively and avoids the trap of taking sides in the current healthcare debate. While the subject matter is by no means easy, the book is nonetheless highly accessible and engaging. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody wishing to gain a solid understanding of our healthcare system in the United States.

The "Color Science Bible"

I bought this book for my studies in the M.S. Color Science program at the Rochester Institute of Technology. It is a very detailed and math-oriented view of many aspects related to color & color science. I've sometimes heard it referred to as the "Bible" of Color Science.

Bottom line is that it's a great reference book for detailed, mathemetical views of Color Science topics. It's not a very good book to read for general information or an overview on color science. I'd highly recommend "Principles of Color Technology" by Roy Berns as a good all-around 1st book on color science. Much easier and more enjoyable to read. The Wyszecki & Stiles is more of a reference book if you need the next level of detail after that.

The complete color science reference

I spent ten years as a professional color scientist in feature film post production in Hollywood, completing hundreds of theatrically released films. This book was an indispensable reference, particularly useful during the industry migration from primarily film to primarily digital acquisition methods. As the other reviewers have alluded, it is math heavy. It is also exhaustive and complete. If you really want to understand the empirical science behind the illusion of color, this is the book for you. If you are looking for a lightweight overview of color concepts, this is not the book that you want.

Too much introductive

Since there is few books on financial application of Matlab, I would say that Mr. Brandimarte has done a good pretty good job. I liked especially the fact that the book covers many topics (bond pricing, derivatives, optimization), however, even if the title says "an introduction", it is still too much introductive and you don't get a grip on the amazing capabilities of Matlab. This book is suitable for people discovering Matlab and Finance at the same time.
