Used in MBA program

I did not think this book was that useful in that it does not reach any techniques but rather it allows you to glean ideas from mistakes that companies have made. It presents different cases from the real world but coming from a background of no marketing experience, I did not find this technique all that useful.

This is a great book, however, author's use of "difficult" language makes it a hard reading for students. The point of this book should entirely be to emphasize on facts, rather than to showcase author's verbal capabilities.

Great Book, and Much Cheaper Than The "College Version"

I am in culinary school and this is the required text for our classes. After hours of researching online, and even taking the time to call the publisher, I finally decided to take a risk by buying this "Trade" version rather than the "College Version," offered here on Amazon and in our school's bookstore. Rest assured! This book is EXACTLY the same as the "College Version," but it doesn't include the CulinarE Companion CD (which our school does not utilize anyway)! I even had the instructors at school ask the publisher about the differences, and they admitted that there are none! All of the recipes and page numbers match up identically. Save yourself the $36+ dollars and buy this version instead of getting ripped off by a marketing scam to get more money out of students by calling a book the "College Version" - I'm glad I did!

We are just getting into the book, so I can't offer too much of an opinion, but from what I've seen so far, I'm impressed! I just wanted to add my review so that hopefully another student like myself can save some money. I hope it helps!

a good bargain...saved money...highlights, expected that as was mentioned by the seller/no big deal...the book contains an incredible amount of recipes/I recommend buying used for anyone who is entering professional cooking or who does a lot of cooking at home...forget about those suzie home-maker books

Mr. Montrose is also a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the Board of Directors of both the IEEE EMC and Product Safety Engineering Society, as well as an active participant in local, national, and international activities of both Societies. He has published two prior books related to EMC and printed circuit boards.

EDWARD M. NAKAUCHI has over thirty years of experience in analog, power, and digital design and has spent the majority of the past twenty years working in the EMI/EMC/EMP and ESD areas for military aerospace companies as well as commercial audio, computer, and medical organizations. He has written numerous technical papers and magazine articles, and presented seminars on various EMI/EMP/ESD topics. The 'Bible' of EMC testing

Mark and Ed have put together an extremely useful tool for EMC testing. This book guides you through all you will need to know to confidentally test your product. The information on test techniques is current for today's test equipment. If you do not have your own test facilities I highly recommend this book so that you can better understand what your contract test house can and will do for you. I am so pleased with the content of this book that I have purchased one for each of my technicians.

Waste of money

First the quality of the book is shocking. The images are so blurred that you cant see any details. Its like you bought a photocopy of the actual book. Then there is all the creased pages in a new book. How can so many pages in a book be creased and crushed inside? The binding of the book has already started to fall apart barely after being barely opened 5 times. Shocking quality.

Now to the content. Most of the information in this book can be found on the internet from the numerous free sources. In fact
many of the articles on home made probes appear to be from various internet sites. If you search for the various topic you can find better quality articles on the web thats all for free.

I was expecting a much more indepth look at the techniques of EMC test equipment and accessories, what you get is shallow
treatment of the subject matter. In reality most of the information in this book can be gotten from the various CISPR standards.
I also was expecting some EMC expertise from the authors but all you get is stuff that even a beginner could figure out for himself or herself.

The book itself is well indexed organised and written. Its just the quality and depth of the material, and the way that the book is published that is very poor. I cant believe that anyone would describe this book as the bible of EMC testing. Its more like the beginners guide or FAQ guide to EMC. I've spent a long career trying to establish a few solid relationships between mathematics and the sciences of mind. Thus, it is truly a great pleasure to read a book on such a vast and deep subject as the history of mathematics and be thoroughly able to trust the author's knowledge of it through chapter after chapter.

rates two stars solely for its excellent typography

Oh, what a disastrous disappointment this was! The book was generously sprinkled with history and chock-full of mathematics but basically fell silent in the "history of mathematics" department. I emerged with a vague idea of the interrelationships among these theorems or these techniques, but nothing of a useful _conceptual_ nature was to be gleaned from these academically spiffy pages. Honestly, I got the impression that the author was trying to impress me with the scope of his mathematical knowledge (a difficult task given the shocking limits thereof: a handful of theorems, more or less correctly stated, cannot substitute for a meaningful sub-corpus of math-craft). Yea, he expended not the first breath in trying to show me how the approaches and, yes, psyches of various civilizations empowered them to construct bodies of knowledge atop thitherto weaker or less finely structured bodies of knowledge. Nowhere could I glean any thread whereby I could declare, "Aha! It's amazing how culture X managed to cobble together idea P by subtly restructuring culture Y's notion of Q!" Friends, look for "The Crest of the Peacock" by George Geverghese Joseph and really, _really_ enjoy. (For a bit more detail of one particularly interesting tangent [no pun intended], explore Petr Beckmann's "History of Pi" also.) In retrospect, I can't imagine what motivated me to shell out $100 for Cooke's pseudo-opus in the first place.

About the Author
George A. F. Seber, PhD, Dip. Counsel. is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. A Fellow of the New Zealand Royal Society and recipient of the Hector Medal in Science by the NZ Royal Society, he is the author or coauthor of 15 statistical books and an extensive book on counselling.  His research interests have included linear and nonlinear modeling, multivariate analysis,  statistical ecology, genetics, epidemiology, and adaptive sampling.

Alan J. Lee, PhD, is a Professor of Statistics in the Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland.His research interests include statistical modeling, semi-parametric inference, circular statistics and social statistics. Along with Dr Nicholas Fisher, he is a principal in the consultancy Valumetrics Australia.

Linear regression analysis

I'm using the book as a textbook this semester for a PhD course in Statistics. There are too many mistakes and typos in the 2nd edition of the book. The readers should be very carefull. I think the 2nd edition of the book is too sloppy. The authors should proofread the book thoroughly and correct all mistakesa and typos before it goes to print again.

Thorough, excellent treatment of this technique

Seber pays meticulous attention to detail. Not only does he present a comprehensive text on regression, but his precise, straight-forward language separates this work from other books on the topic. This is a "must-have" for any serious statisticians library.

Great book showing how to draw lines through data!

Using this book for a master's level review of linear models. I think that it's a great book to use as a companion to class, but may be difficult to read through on your own. The author's notation isn't bad, it's just not as good as it could be in some parts. Aside from this, there are a few style choices that I would change, but that's just my opinion. The book is filled with examples, practice problems, and many solutions. As you read/work through the book, the authors give plenty of references to outside material to further your understanding of the material. Overall, this is a pretty good book and definitely worth the purchase if you are using it for a class.
